I haven't updated in a long time mostly because i don't think a lot of people read journals on DA. But today i just say hello. Today is my laast day of school before spring break. Hoorah! I'm going to be making a very very interesting project over the break that i will upload photos from when finished.
Tuesday-
Tuesday this week i was a participant in a competition called AYAA. That's Arkansas Young Artists Association. It was a state wide competition for high school students to enter artwork in any category of their choosing, with any subject matter, and with any media. The max amount of pieces you could enter was five. I took five pieces: a charcoal/ conte piece, a pencil portrait, a mixed media piece, a ink piece, and a acrylic portrait piece. I won a 3rd place for the charcoal piece and a 4th place for the acrylic portrait. All five were pieces that i was very happy with. I'll post pictures as soon as i have them released back to me. I worked the photography for the judging as well. It was horrible because the judges of course are all retarded and kept moving things or not turning in their score binders. It was so easy a job last year but because everything turned into chaos and things were out of order i ended up working to undo the chaos for three hours. On my feet or spread onto my knees the entire time with only a max of two kind hearted people to help me. I kept getting yelled at because people were so frantic about getting it done. They weren't meaning to be rude to me but it was chaos so i just smiled and took it all. After three hours, during which i surrendered the opportunity to go eat lunch because i could hardly stand much less walk five minutes down to the river market, i finally finished and went to turn in my camera so they could set up the award presentation. I saw one of my teachers that i worked with alot and gave her a hug. Then she asked me if i had eaten and i said no because i couldn't walk. She asked what was wrong and then i just lost it and started crying. She pulled me into this curtained off area to calm me down and then she went and got me a sandwich. She's such an amazing lady. I just sat there crying over a sandwich like a dumbass. I couldn't help it. All the exhaustion of sleepless nights, running all over the competition floor, not sitting down at all, and being yelled out orders for no reason just broke me after i was out of sight from everyone else. I've always been like that too. I refuse to ever cry in front of an audience. After i stopped crying and finished my food i went to sit with the adults because all the students were still at lunch. The one's that were judges and a few that were on the floor to see me doing the photography kept coming up to thank me for all my hardwork and apologized for all the work they had to put me through, so i felt a little better from that. After the awards it was all in the past and i was happy as ever. Today my legs still ache from standing and running around for so long but it'll heal up eventually.
And that was my life this week. Oh yeah p.s. i've seen Watchmen. It's awesome! Life-changing movie for sure, and i wasn't even a fan before the movie came out. Please please please please please go see it for the love of all that is cinema. WARNING! THE MOVIE IS RATED R FOR A LOT OF DAMN GOOD REASONS IF YOU ARE UNDERAGED OR IF YOU ARE IMPRESSIONABLE OR WEAK TO ANYTHING OF THE RATED R TYPE THIS MOVIE IS NOT YOUR TYPE OF MOVIE!
